The CBDT has withdrawn the benefit of grace marks awarded to betterment candidates, which seems to be discriminatory in nature. Please go through the orders posted here under and comment.

A good decision. A candidate, whether SC/ST/OBC, once passed the Dept Examination WITH RELAXED STANDARDS, should not again be allowed relaxation by way of grace marks, to achieve the “Own Merit Status”.
This is discriminatory. If the general candidates are eligible for grace marks for achieving normal eligibility, then the betterment candidates should not be denied
